History for Kids – Today is James Madison’s birthday

Happy birthday James Madison. James Madison was our 4th president. He also helped write the Constitution. He died in 1836. James Madison helped the Goverment a lot. He was president during the war of 1812. His wife Dolley Madison is very famous. Dolley Madison saved the picture of George Washington from when the British soldiers were coming to burn down the White House in the war of 1812. The picture is the oldest thing in the White House. James Madison is a very important person.
